CETIC Banock Gets New Classrooms
Government School Banock in Penka Michel sub division, Menoua Division of the West region of Cameroon are the latest beneficiaries of the SHUMAS education program. 3 newly constructed classrooms 27 benches, 3 tables and 3 tables, a toilet block of three compartments with hand washing facilities were handed over to the school and the community in colorful ceremony on June 13, 2018 attended amongst others by the Senior Divisional Officer of Menoua and the population of Banock.
All the speakers during the event lavished praises to SHUMAS and her partner Building Schools for Africa.
According to the Director General of SHUMAS, Ndzerem Stephen Njodzeka, the project which started in 2016 was initiated because of the need and the willingness of the population to participate in its implementation.
“These school infrastructures and equipment are only as valuable as the commitment we all make,to taking responsibility for our actions and attitudes to promoting quality education. I want to call on the entire community to carefully and seriously protect these facilities so that many generations of children and their families can benefit from them” observed the Director General.
He thanked the partners for their continuous commitment and the government of Cameroon for providing a conducive environment for NGOs to operate and contribute to the development of Cameroon
It is worth noting that SHUMAS has constructed and rehabilitated more than 800 classrooms equipped with benches, tables, and chairs as well as toilets blocks with hand washing facilities. Over 50 schools engaged in the School Environmental Garden Project aimed at inculcating values of environmental management and protection.
More than 100 children yearly have been sponsored under the SHUMAS scholarship scheme. SHUMAS has equally provided potable water to more than 50 schools through, water by gravity, boreholes or protected wells for improved hygiene and sanitation in the different schools.

On the 26th of May 2018, the Strategic Humanitarian Services SHUMAS-Cameroon Board of Trustees held its Annual meeting.
Top on the Agenda for the conclave was to evaluate 2017 activities and plans for 2018 .
The BoD also discussed the up coming Silver Jubilee of the Organization in 2022 with the creation of an organizing committee to tackle the successful organization of the memorable event.
The next randez vous was taken for November 2018 at the SHUMAS Agricultural and Eco Touristic Biofarm Farm in Kumbo.
SHUMAS, UNICEF and the regional Delegation of public health, team up with women groups of west region to share experience on routine vaccination coverage in 10 districts.
SHUMAS, UNICEF and the regional Delegation of public health, team up with women groups of west region to share experience on routine vaccination coverage in 10 districts and award micro credit.
After a successful carrying out vaccination in the various 10 districts, an experience sharing forum was organized, health officers and women groups who shared their successes and limitations, proposed ways in improving health conditions of children in vaccination age and how to get to distant villages was a call for concern. The following statistics where reached at;
40401 people where sensitized
3060 children identified,
45 zero dose identified
Total of 1880 children identified and vaccinated
Over all of children identified and vaccinated was 85.295%
After encouragement the women groups promised to continue the crusade of identifying children who haven’t had the vaccine for a healthy generation.
SHUMAS, UNICEF and the Regional Delegation of Public Health held an experience sharing forum aimed at scaling up routine vaccination coverage in five health districts in the North West region.
On May 25, 2018, SHUMAS, UNICEF and the Regional Delegation of Public Health held an experience sharing forum aimed at scaling up routine vaccination coverage in five health districts in the North West region. These districts include Bafut, Bali, Batibo, Benakuma and Mbengwi. The stakeholders also brainstormed on strategies to reach inaccessible/interior villages within the project area. Routine vaccination coverage in the region has been on the decline since 2012, dropping from 81% in 2012 through 77% in 2014 and then 70% in 2015.

COURSE TITLE
Wind energy, Solar energy, Biogas and Mini hydro
All training facilities are available at the SHUMAS renewable technical center
BENEFITS OF THE TRAINING
During this course, you will be empowered on how to;
- Carry out feasibility studies of the different renewable energy sources (Wind energy, solar energy, Hydroelectricity and Biogas);
- Identify authentic equipment and design compatible systems;
- Carry out installations in the aforementioned energy systems;
- sustain and maintain these systems;
The training is also a Path Way for you to become a Green energy expert (Solar, Wind, Mini Hydro and Biogas)
COST OF TRAINING
Interested participant are expected to pay a registration fee of 60000CFA which covers lodging, feeding, and a certificate of participation
ELIGIBILITY FOR APPLICANTS;
At least Advanced level or Baccalaureate holders in Physics, Electricity and/or Electronics and other related fields of study.

SHUMAS MAKES A DIFFERENCE IN LIVES OF THOSE WITH SPECIAL NEEDS
Life is worth living when we all at all levels of our lives create an impact
Where help is actually needed. With bounties brought by the Easter season SHUMAS graduate 9 pupils with special needs on the 29 of march 2018, being its 7 batch into the field of their specialty as job creators, SHUMAS with its partners the ROTARY CLUB KUMBO, giving it the colorful grandeur, it deserves.
With the director of SHUMAS MFORMI NDZEREM STEPHEN speech pregnant with a lot of meaning encouraged and cautioned the trainees to be hard working, enduring as the world will not be tolerant as the school environment they have been adapted with for the past two years
with euphoria the SHUMAS director gave words of thanks to the ROTARY CLUB KUMBO for not relenting efforts in partnership with SHUMAS and providing start up material for the trainees ,giving a brief clew on the rehab center he spelled out the centers main objective being to empower those with disabilities socio economically and to insert them as development partners .we have got dormitory facilities for free to trainees and trainers ,feeding fee of 300 frs for those lodging with 3 square meals a day to name a few..
Present was the D.O for Bamenda 3 who laid emphasis on disability not being inability and encouraged the graduates and their families to see the graduates through as the lay their workshops. The ceremony ended up with a word of thanks from one of the students thanking SHUMAS and the ROTARY CLUB KUMBO for helping them realize
GBHS SODIKO latest to benefit from SHUMAS benevolence
The Strategic Humanitarian Services (SHUMAS) Cameroon and her partners, Building Schools for Africa (BSFA) extend their benevolence to Sodiko located in Douala IV sub division, Wouri Division, Littoral Region of Cameroon. GBHS Sodiko, a school with the population of about 1000 students finally fine a reason to jubilate after existing for 24years without a science laboratory. The ceremony which took place on the 8th of February, 2018 under the auspices of the Director general for SHUMAS, Nformi Ndzerem Stephen Njodzeka Stephen the divisional officer for Douala IV sub division, Ekoa Mbarga Jean Mark which they both urge the community to fully embrace the gift and ensures sustainability. The event was spiced with drama from student on the important of sciences education, dancing and jubilation from students and community traditional groups. 5 traditional rulers marked present,

During the ceremony, the Director General for SHUMAS was honored with the title Elolombe 1 of SODIKO (a very respectful and honoured title in the Sodiko community)
The project component includes the construction and equipping of a modern science laboratory for physics, chemistry, biology, geology and home economics.
SHUMAS Cameroon and partners BSFA handed over newly constructed classrooms and equipment to Ecole publique de Kalong in MBAM and INOUBOU Division, Center Region
The Strategic Humanitarian Services (SHUMAS) Cameroon and its partners, Building Schools for Africa (BSFA), handed over a school project to the community of Kalong, KON YAMBETTA sub division, MBAM and INOUBOU Division of the Center Region Cameroon. A ceremony which took place on the 31th of January 2018 was chaired under the auspices of the General coordinator of SHUMAS, the SDO for KON YAMBETTA sub division, it is their wish to see an improvement in education situation of the people. They urged the community to fully embrace the gifts and ensure sustainability. This occasion like no other in the community helped to bring to together the people of Kalong who have been in bias for many years.
The event was crowned by joyful dancing from community social groups, school pupils and teachers who showed their gratitude and thanked SHUMAS for her kind gesture.
The project had the following components:
• Construction of 3 classrooms, with office and store
• Modern toilet block with hand washing facility
• 27 benches,
• 4 tables and 4 chairs
