Notwithstanding the contributions of poor peasant women to the global economy, they face great challenges due to their non accessibility to micro credits. To solve the afore mentioned problem, SHUMAS Cameroon has put in place a micro credit scheme to facilitate access to micro credit for poor peasant women in Cameroon.
It is against this backdrop that the 19th session of the Micro credit meeting was organized on 23rd and 24th/ 25th for the West and North West Regions respectively. During this session, micro credit loans were given to over forty peasant women groups with an average membership of thirty
The micro credit scheme operates twice yearly in the months on March and October and has helped poor peasant women to set up businesses and raise income for themselves and their families. Their economic empowerment works positively as a morale booster to these women who can now stand tall in public
